The Turner Twins Experiment

Turner Twins

Identical twins eating different diets for 12 weeks and reporting back on their results. A bit gimmicky? Sure. But fun to read about. Ross and Hugo Turner did an experiment comparing high-fat and high-carb diets. Over test period, both ate similarly but with different food focuses: Hugo on high-fat, low-carb (e.g., olive oil, avocado), and Ross on high-carb, low-fat (e.g., pasta, rice).

Outcomes:

  • Ross (High-Carb): Gained muscle, lost fat, improved cholesterol, reduced visceral fat. Felt full but missed fats.
  • Hugo (High-Fat): Gained more weight, less fat loss, no cholesterol change, increased visceral fat. Always hungry.

Both improved strength, but Hugo struggled with endurance. Of course these results worked on these men but might not translated into anything useful for you and me.
