Exercise Snacks

How to Train According to the Experts
Exercise Snacks: Another great gem in this video is the notion of “exercise snacks” —short, high-intensity sessions lasting just 1 to 10 minutes. I particularly like how they’re framed as a way to prime your brain for cognitively demanding tasks. Need to write a sharp report or tackle complex coding? A quick burst of high-intensity exercise beforehand can give your brainpower a significant boost. Good exercise snacks might include:
- Burpees
- Jumping jacks
- Squats
- Cardio machines (rowers, bikes, elliptical, et. al.)
Anything you can use to get your heart rate up to at least 80% will work.
Other benefits of exercise snacks they tout include:
- Lowering the psychological barrier to exercise
- Breaking up your sedentary time
- Improving cardiovascular heath – especially for those who don’t exercise regularly.
